Remember the name because you won't long forget, to start, the melody of “Don’t Fuck Around on Figueroa” and Cadillac’s remake of the classic Vanity 6 (Sheila E) - “Nasty Girl.” The former is how you should start your late night cruise to the club and “Nasty” could easily be the welcome you find when you end your final destination at any of Hollywood’s swankiest and most exclusive star filled Sunset Strip night venues.
The West Coast can now proudly proclaim a grandmaster MACK DADDY of hip, hop, and funk. Cadillac Game’s signature sound has the musical DNA of The Time, His Holiness the Artist Formerly known as Prince and most notably a stunning voice which sounds trained along side and in harmony with the late great Tupac Shakur. Cadillac Game’s debut album has some freshman missteps such as long unnecessary intros in several tracks. But overall this does not impede our love for this group and nor will it yours.
From my days of consulting to such labels as Capital Records, Chrysalis, and EMI Music Group (which at the time boasted such stellar stars as Janet Jackson, Lou Rawls, Frank Sinatra and Garth Brooks) I was fortunate to hear countless new talent releases. NONE were as good as Cadillac Game!
